One of Britain's most reliable household brands, Vanish, has always had a strong interest in its consumers worries and issues. And that is why Vanish proudly supports WEAR IT PINK, the single biggest day in Breast Cancer Awareness Month when people all over the UK and Ireland are encouraged to wear pink to work, at home or at school to show their support and raise money for the thousands of people suffering with breast cancer.
The annual event that takes place on the 26th October is now in its tenth year. 2011 saw hundreds of thousands of supporters come superheroes get together in a monumental nationwide effort that raised £2.2 million for breast cancer research.
All of the money is used to fund world-class innovative research to help try and understand how breast cancer is caused, how it develops and possible ways to prevent, treat and eventually cure it.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK and affects one in eight women during their lifetime. It's the second largest killer amongst women after lung cancer and almost 50,000 new cases are diagnosed every year, that's 130 a day. A staggering 12,000 women and 90 men die from breast cancer each year and critical prevention guidelines and research into treatment is increasing the survival rate.
Get involved in WEAR IT PINK
All you need to do is wear something pink (hopefully a whole outfit) and if you can, make a £2 donation to the Breast Cancer Campaign or as much as you can manage. Then try to encourage as many of your friends, family and colleagues to do the same.
In fact, you can even organise a WEAR IT PINK day for your office or your school. There will be lots of information added to wearitpink.co.uk in the run up to October that will give you loads of fun ideas to help you create a day that everyone will want to get on board with.
You can track just how much money is being raised on the Breast Cancer Campaign's main site and Facebook page along with pictures and videos showing what all of the other supporters have got up to.
WEAR IT PINK, supported by Vanish Gold Oxi Action Stain Remover Powder, is a fun and easy way that you can help spread awareness of breast cancer and support all of those people suffering with the disease. Join the fight against breast cancer and be part of the cure.
